The title tells is all, really! Classic library breaks reworked and re-scored with added beats and bounce. Keep an eye out for volume two... out soon.
A rework of Jhelisa's finest, most soulful moment )originally released on Dorado, fact fans) on a cheeky red seven-inch. This isn't a reissue, more a remoake for 2002. This is perfect summer music: laid back, a little dubby, with that great voice floating over the top. It's hard to tell whether it's an official release or a bootleg, but either way, the producers have done a great job, keeping all the emotion of the original tune but sliding the vocal over an updated rare groove that flows and filters. There's a useful dub on the flip too. We found this at Koobla Records on Berwick Street, but we reckon that supplies will be further afield by the time you read this. (CC)
A few months ago, a handful of these red vinyl 7"'s did the rounds and only a lucky few managed to get their hands on a copy. Now it's back and everyone can pick up this downtempo soulful classic - a remix of Jhelisa's release from a few years back. Sultry vocals over a looped bass-heavy, laidback groove sounding like Nightmares On Wax in their 'Smokers Delight' period. Snap one up now before the EBay sellors wise up. Simon Koobla
Apart from boasting one of the best names we've ever heard for a techno track, this release by a UK-Australian duo deserves the Sureplayer title because, like all great music, it messes with the boundaries and, more importantly, is highly entertaining. The original is a sleazy mid tempo r&b-techno-electro track that comes (no pun intended) with a panting dominatrix chanting the title. Woxy from the Turbomen's own mix is a tough percussive, grinding, jacking techno track, while Cutlass Supreme keeps it raw and joins the dots between booty, techno, r&b and electro with his frenetic mix. 4.5
